About Us

Our Philosophy

‘Climb mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off you like autumn leaves’. John Muir (1901)

This quote by John Muir embodies what climbing and mountains meant to us. We believe that being active in the outdoors, regardless of the activity is fundamental to our health, well being and development as people. We care passionately about the environment and the courses and activities we offer and aim to build strong and lasting relationships with all of our customers. We strive to be honest, friendly and professional.

Who are we?

Wes HunterAdventure Hunter was founded by Wes Hunter, a passionate climber, mountaineer and fully qualified Mountain Instructor (MIC) who has been climbing to a high standard throughout the UK and overseas for most of his life. Brought up around Keswick in the English Lake District, he began rock climbing in the Lakeland fells as a child. Over the years, he has climbed most of the classic routes in the Lakes up to E5/E6 as well as a handful of E7s. Some of Wes’ favorite climbs in the Lakes include Fear and Fascination; Wicked Willie; Tumble; Top Gear; Saxon; Inferno; Lost Horizons; Western Union; The Iron Man; and Dawes Rides a Shovel Head. He has also climbed extensively in Wales and Scotland, as well as trips to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and most recently to California with two big walls on El Capitan in Yosemite: Lurking Fear and the Triple Direct. Wes loves all aspects of climbing and mountaineering and the diverse and evolving nature of the sport.

Gill Hunter

Gill (Wes’ brother) is a passionate Mountain Biker and Skier. He has spent many hours pedalling around the Lakeland fells and getting to know the incredible trails the area has to offer. When he got fed-up of the wet British weather, Gill moved out to France in search of adventure. He has spent the last eight years between the French Alps and the Côte d’Azur in search of new biking trails and skiing terrain. Although he isn’t involved in course and activity delivery, he is fully involved in marketing and customer service for Adventure Hunter. Gill was responsible for building the Adventure Hunter website. He also founded a web marketing agency called Web Vibes and a destination guide in the South of France called Azur Vibes.
