Advanced Winter Mountaineering Overview

Our Advanced Winter Mountaineering course is geared towards experienced summer and winter hillwalkers and scramblers who enjoy the challenge of getting into more technical terrain but want to learn more in order to continue their enjoyment safely. Perhaps you’d like to learn a few new skills that will enable you to safeguard others? We aim to build on your existing experience and skills and can offer tailored instruction specific to your goals and aspirations.

What’s covered in an Advanced Winter Mountaineering Course?

We’ll look at a wide range of skills including using an ice axe and crampons, hazard awareness, ropework and navigation. If you would prefer a more guided experience doing something that you might not choose to do on your own, then we can also help. Drop us a line and we will be happy to arrange a day or a few days with you. Please note that our advanced winter mountaineering courses are physically demanding and require a good level of fitness. Courses can be arranged in the Lake District and Scotland.

How many can participate?

This course works well on a 1:1 or 1:2 with a maximum ratio of 1:4 (instructor to participant) and can be booked for one to three days in duration. This low ratio will ensure you receive quality instruction.

How much will it cost?

Our pricing structure is based on a sliding scale with a reduced daily fee for every additional day booked. If you would like to reserve a contingency day around your preferred date/s in order to pick the best weather and conditions for your course or activity we may be able to arrange this for an additional fee. For more details, please see our pricing structure.

How to book?

We offer a range of scheduled activities that are open to the public and that can be booked online via the red ‘Book Now’ button. Anything else (including this course) can only be booked privately and enquiries can be made via the form on this page or via the contact form at the top of the page.
