This course is aimed at experienced hillwalkers who want to take on more difficult and challenging routes but generally do not require the use of a rope. Maybe you feel a bit daunted at the prospect of taking on more serious and exposed routes? Or perhaps you feel confident doing them under your own steam but want to learn how to look after and safeguard other people? If so, then we can help. This course is designed to help you feel more comfortable and confident on steeper terrain and will ultimately make your scrambling excursions safer and more enjoyable.
We’ll look at all aspects of scrambling from route-finding and guidebook interpretation, assessing weather and conditions, movement skills, and safeguarding yourself and others. If you would like to learn some basic rope skills then this is possible too. The format and content of this course will remain flexible. Here are a few good tips in this article by BMC to get you started.
