An ability to navigate efficiently and accurately in the mountains is fundamental for any outdoor enthusiast. We offer two navigation courses in the Lake District to suit various abilities and activities, even if you have never used a map and compass before! We also offer night navigation exercises for more experienced navigators who want to challenge their map reading skills in darkness.
Our Beginners Mountain Navigation course is geared towards hillwalkers who want to gain more confidence and skills to head out in poorer weather. Perhaps you’re a confident navigator in fair weather and on well-marked paths and bridleways, but want to feel more self-sufficient if the weather turns?
We also run an Advanced Mountain Navigation Course aimed at more experienced navigators who want refine their skills. If you understand the fundamentals of mountain navigation and want to brush up or concentrate on a particular skill or set of skills then this course could be for you.
Both of our Mountain Navigation courses work well with a maximum ratio of 1:4 (instructor to participant) and can be booked for one or two days in duration. This low ratio will ensure that you receive quality instruction.
Our pricing structure is based on a sliding scale with a reduced daily fee for every additional day booked. If you would like to reserve a contingency day around your preferred date/s in order to pick the best weather and conditions for your course or activity we may be able to arrange this for an additional fee.
