ABOUT ADVENTURE HUNTER

Adventure Hunter offers guiding and instruction on rock, in the mountains and on the water. Drawing on decades of outdoor experience, we shape each course and guided day around your experience, aspirations and the conditions.
Our Approach
Good guiding starts with listening. Understanding what you want to achieve, choosing a suitable objective and adapting to the conditions are at the heart of our approach. We value thoughtful instruction, sound judgement and respect for the wild places in which we work.
We also run Derwent Activities, based on Derwent Water in the Lake District. It offers guided outdoor activities, paddlesport tuition and canoe, kayak and paddleboard hire, alongside tailored programmes for schools, groups and corporate teams.
Meet the Team
Wes Hunter
Adventure Hunter’s founder, Wes brings a lifelong enthusiasm for climbing and mountaineering to his guiding and instruction. A qualified Winter Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor (WCMI), he has climbed throughout the UK and overseas and previously served as a Lake District National Park Authority Fell Top Assessor.
His experience extends from the mountains to the water. Wes holds the multi-craft Paddlesport Touring Leader, Canoe Advanced Open Water Leader and Canoe White Water Leader qualifications, alongside RYA Safety Boat.
Duane Moran
Co-partner Duane draws on decades spent climbing, paddling and travelling through wild landscapes. His background includes kayaking, canoeing, surf kayaking and wilderness trekking. Now based in the Lake District, he guides climbing and water-based adventures and is a member of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team.
Duane holds the multi-craft Paddlesport Touring Leader, Canoe Advanced Open Water Leader and Canoe White Water Leader qualifications. He is also qualified as an Advanced Swift Water Rescue Technician and holds RYA Safety Boat.
Gill Hunter
Based in Morzine, Wes’s brother Gill is an accomplished mountain biker and skier who supports Adventure Hunter behind the scenes. He looks after marketing, customer service and web development, helping people find and plan their experiences with us.
Gill built the Adventure Hunter website and runs the web marketing agency Web Vibes. Although he does not deliver activities day to day, his work is an essential part of the team’s operations.
