Cuillin Ridge Experience Overview
The Black Cuillin on the Isle of Skye contains some of the most spectacular and challenging mountain terrain in Britain. Narrow ridges, dark gabbro peaks and an extraordinary setting above the sea create a landscape quite unlike anywhere else in the UK.
At its heart is the legendary Cuillin Ridge—around 12 km of sustained scrambling and climbing linking the range’s principal summits. A complete traverse is one of Britain’s great mountaineering challenges, combining exposed scrambling, classic climbs and an unforgettable overnight bivouac high on the ridge.
For something less committing, we can arrange individual days or multi-day trips amongst the Cuillin, with objectives including the Inaccessible Pinnacle, Sgùrr Alasdair and Sgùrr nan Gillean, alongside a wealth of classic climbs and scrambles.
A good level of mountain fitness and stamina is essential, particularly for a full traverse. Technical equipment can be provided, and every trip is tailored around your experience, ambitions and the conditions.
Whether it’s your first Cuillin summit, the Inaccessible Pinnacle or a complete ridge traverse, Skye offers some of the finest and most memorable mountain adventures in Britain.
